Professional Education

Professional Education

Advanced clinical education for practitioners who want to understand more deeply and intervene more intelligently.

Integral Somatics offers continuing education, clinical mentorship, and customized professional training grounded in anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, lymphatic science, oncology, somatics, and advanced manual-therapy practice.

The emphasis is not simply on learning more techniques.

It is on developing the knowledge and clinical reasoning to understand what to do, when to do it, when not to do it, and how to adapt when the person in front of you does not fit neatly into a protocol.

From technique toward clinical reasoning.

A sequence can be useful. Understanding why—and when—it should change is more useful.

Integral Somatics education combines foundational science with hands-on application, scope awareness, clinical communication, treatment adaptation, and the perceptual skills required to work thoughtfully with real bodies.

Courses range from focused workshops to intensive clinical trainings and longer-form foundational study.

Areas of Study

Oncology-Informed Manual Therapy

Safe, thoughtful care for people navigating cancer treatment, surgery, survivorship, palliative care, and the physiological consequences of oncology treatment.

Training emphasizes pathology, treatment effects, red flags, scope of practice, communication, positioning, pressure, timing, and appropriate treatment modification.

Featured course:
Oncology Essentials for Manual Therapy
Practical knowledge for safe, precise, compassionate care.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic anatomy and physiology translated into practical assessment, clinical reasoning, and hands-on treatment.

Training includes node basins, watersheds, drainage pathways, edema, altered lymphatic anatomy, postoperative care, scar tissue, fibrosis, oncology-related considerations, and treatment adaptation.

Nervous-System Regulation

A physiology-based exploration of sensation, motor control, autonomic regulation, protective responses, pain, and adaptation.

The goal is to move beyond vague language about “calming the nervous system” toward a clinically useful understanding of how nervous-system function shapes movement, muscle tone, perception, recovery, and hands-on care.

Cranial, Membrane & Head/Neck Work

Advanced exploration of the cranium, cervical region, meninges, dura, fascial relationships, neural structures, lymphatics, and the complex sensory and motor systems of the head and neck.

Featured course:
Mobilizing Membranes: Dura & Beyond

Related study includes integrated neuromuscular approaches, intraoral work, headaches, TMJ-related patterns, craniosacral therapy, lymphatics, and nervous-system regulation.

Pediatric & Developmental Care

Developmentally appropriate manual therapy informed by pediatric anatomy, physiology, nervous-system development, fascia, communication, consent and assent, and the changing needs of the growing body.

Working with children requires more than applying adult techniques to smaller people. It requires a different level of pacing, observation, adaptability, and collaboration.

Functional Anatomy, Physiology & Somatics

Anatomy becomes clinically powerful when structures are understood as participants in living systems.

These courses connect regional anatomy with neurology, circulation, lymphatics, fascia, movement, pain, perception, and clinical presentation while also exploring embodiment, therapeutic presence, and whole-person care.

The aim is neither to replace science with intuition nor intuition with reductionism. It is to cultivate both precision and presence.

Contemplative Practice, Movement & Breathwork

Experiential study of meditation, mindfulness, contemplative practice, breathwork, somatic movement, yoga, qi gong, and related approaches to attention, embodiment, regulation, and relational awareness.

These courses explore how deliberate practices of stillness, movement, breathing, and perception can influence nervous-system regulation, interoception, emotional flexibility, attention, resilience, and our capacity to participate more fully in relationship and community.

The emphasis is not on any single tradition or technique, but on developing practical ways of cultivating awareness from within, translating that awareness into how we move through the world, and understanding individual regulation as part of a larger relational ecology.

Study may draw from contemplative traditions, neuroscience, physiology, somatics, movement practices, philosophy, and creative inquiry.

Featured offerings:
Studio Lab: Meditation × Neuroscience × Art
Studio Lab: Sitting With the River

The arc begins with the individual—but does not end there. Greater awareness, regulation, and embodiment can change how we listen, relate, collaborate, and participate in the communities of which we are a part.

Additional courses, workshops, and asynchronous learning are in development.

Practitioner Mentorship

Clinical reasoning does not end when the class does.

Some of the most important questions in practice begin when a real client presents with a complex history that does not fit cleanly into a protocol. Mentorship provides a structured place to think through those questions.

  • complex case discussion and treatment planning
  • oncology and medically complex presentations
  • scope, precautions, red flags, and referral decisions
  • treatment modification and clinical reasoning
  • patient and interdisciplinary communication
  • professional language and documentation
  • integration of anatomy, physiology, somatic and manual-therapy approaches

Mentorship may be structured for individual practitioners, small groups, or clinical teams.

Education for Clinics & Healthcare Organizations

Training built around the people doing the work.

Integral Somatics develops customized education for clinics, interdisciplinary teams, wellness programs, and healthcare organizations.

Programs may address oncology-informed manual therapy, lymphatic care, clinical safety, scope and role clarity, trauma-informed practice, patient communication, anatomy and physiology, practitioner mentorship, and advanced clinical reasoning.

Training may take the form of focused workshops, multi-session programs, curriculum development, or ongoing professional support.

Teaching Philosophy

Understand more deeply. Intervene more intelligently.

The body does not organize itself according to course modules.

Muscle tone interacts with sensation. Sensation interacts with expectation. Movement interacts with pain. Pain interacts with inflammation. Inflammation interacts with lymphatic and immune function.

All of this occurs within a person whose history, environment, relationships, spirit, psychology and physiology influence how care is received.

Good education should preserve that complexity without making clinical practice unnecessarily complicated.

My goal as an educator is to help practitioners see more, understand more, and then do only as much as is useful.

That means cultivating curiosity without losing rigor, specificity without losing the whole, and confidence without abandoning humility.

Bring the questions you actually encounter in practice.

Whether you are looking for continuing education, advanced mentorship, or customized training for a healthcare organization, we can begin with the practitioners, populations, and clinical questions in front of you.
